DIRECTOR. COMEDY ENGINEER. LOGIC-WRECKER.

Julian Pugsley was born in Bath. Not the tub – the actual city in England. A place known mostly for Jane Austen, Roman ruins, and people who think oat milk is an adventure. But rather than stay put sipping artisanal tea and discussing Georgian architecture, Julian did what any self-respecting lunatic would do: he jetted off around the world to work as an award-winning advertising creative.

But that wasn’t enough. Julian once more packed his bags and headed off to study film at New York University. That’s right: the full cinematic shebang. Lenses. Lighting. Script structure. The kind of place where people say things like “mise-en-scène” without irony. And out of that came a director with a very particular set of skills. You see, Julian doesn’t just do comedy. He engineers it. Builds it. Constructs entire universes where everything looks normal—until you realize the rules are completely wrong. Up is down. Left is cheese. People behave as if nothing’s odd, even though the whole world has clearly gone bananas. It’s funny. It’s stylish. And, somehow, it all makes perfect sense.

The smartest agencies in the world have come knocking—BBH, BBDO, DDB, Droga5, Fallon, Fred & Farid, Mischief, the list goes on like a German motorway. His work has earned recognition from Cannes, One Show, Clio, and featured everywhere from Adweek to The New York Times.

In short, Julian Pugsley is a master of misrule, a comedy craftsman with the cinematic eye of a hawk on Red Bull. If you want safe, go elsewhere. If you want brilliantly twisted, visually sharp, and just the right amount of madness—well, you’ve found your Julian.
